My Shakespeare's monologue and approaching script

This is My Shakespeare's monologue from kind John , I am playing the character of the young prince Arthur of Brittany , who is afraid that his uncle may kill him to gain the throne, which leads me to commit suicide by jumping off the balcony of the castle.  My character is saying why did he have to be the air to the throw . My monologue is takings from King John Act 5 scene 1.

In my monologue, the present situation is that Kings Johns loyal henchman, Hubert is ordered to torture and execute the teenage prince Arthur the rightful air to the throne. My Character came here to see how his friend is down, however later in finding out he has to be killed by his best friend.

Hubert is one of Arthur's good friends in the castle. Arthur is saying to Hubert how  could you look at me and say you are going to kill , when I was the one who helped you when you were sad , when u was the one who was with you when you feel ill etc.

In the monologue Arthur is saying that Hubert should do what he is told to do and if he can't Arthur would do it him self because that's how much he loves Hubert. In the scene the king has told Hubert to cut out Arthur's eyes and give it to the king.

Hurbert could not do it him self so he made another person do it but then Arthur goes no that he wants Hubert to do it instead.

Arthur tells Hubert to cut out because he does not want to ever look at Hubert again for thinking of doing this thing even though the king told him, however, hue burr loves Arthur so much that he couldn't and didn't do it.

Hurbert says he will lie to the king that he killed Arthur but Arthur loved Hurbert so much that he committed suicide so that Hubert won't be killed by the king.

In my scene I am in the palace dungeon. My charcter is wearing quite mid-evil clothes, he is wearing shakespearing attire.

I wil be wearing quite colourful clothes and a lot of gold on my clothes, for example chains, gold Cape and my crown etc.

Working with given circumstances and objectives

Working with given circumstances and objectives

Heighten level
Allow ideas to happen, we let new ideas be inspiring so when a new thought change happens let it run.

Words like I, He,she, you, they ect. Make then clear because they are normally the start of the sentence.

Don't think about the line make sure you think about the objectives instead.

Do your objective and then speak. "Objective then speak, objectives then speak, objective then speak" ect

Put in all of the ends of your words / sentence.

Don't get lost in the words , get lost in the objective to get the words out.

Three things I need to be getting on with
1) I need to make sure I know all my lines to the best level I could learn them by learning them cold, then doing this for my Shakespeare monologue.
2) I need to make sure I play my objective before I say my line , if I remember "objective then line", this will help to make my performance to a very high standard as possible.
3) I need separate my Shakespeare monologue into thoughts.

Theatre notes

Theatre

A good bit of acting is when you ,see what you say, in your monologue.

Resisting instinct through physical objectives , and just become the character

Make sure you are living through the objective and not just acting , live not act.

Explore the extremes of your objectives, to see which objective fits well for that character/ dialogue or text.

Don't worry about getting embarrassed and just keep experimenting.

Don't restrict your self on just your mind and try find movement with your body and the room around you.

Don't just say the line live in the objective first and then say the line. Also body and voice is right

Remember the text rides on the action. Make sure to live in the world for at least 5 seconds. We alway as soon as the in breath drops in, by living in the giving circumstances.

Opinions offers the clarity, don't do so close to the audience planner. Www the person you are talking to, let your work offer subert.

In Shakespeare you need to make sure you project the ends of your words and think who am I talking to and what kind of relationship do j have with this person.

Dont de-voice ,when you start strong don't stop for example  "I would have" said loud and commanding and then Say it again quite this is de-voicing a ruining the performance.

The proses of becoming character in text
1) split text into thoughts so different objective

Picture of different versions of monologue

Version one - Normal monologue

Version two - A bit of objectives

Version three - All objectives and all thought changes sorted out

Evaluation of what I did in the lesson today

I believe I did well in the lesson today trying to live in the moment ,for example, when I was rehearsing my lines.

To improve my performance I need to rehearse my monologue not only in lesson but at home as well and if possible with one of my fellow actors in my class.

I listen to the advice of my fellow actor to help me improve my monologue and also to see if the objectives I chose was correct objectives for my monologue and the characters I had chosen for my final assessment.

The play was very entertaining. The character were very unique, My favorite character was jumbo.

The play was very entertaining, The Characters were very unique, My favorite character was Jumbo. I think jumbo was good character because he was really entertaining and every time he said something I was completely engaged at all times. You could see that the actor that played jumbo really did his research in his character, when he did the monologue on his mum, you really believed that the actor was actual Jumbo and he really felt strong about the matter of not being able to see his mum on a regular bases.

It was a really good play because their was only three actors and they still performed to the best quality possible. You could really see that the actors knew their objectives and that they were living in the moment. The set was really simply and not out there, therefore, making the set very effective because for the whole of the play it was in the trenches and from an fellow actors prospective it looked like the actors researched there parts and also that they knew their given circumstances as-well as their objectives.

Skills Audit and Casting/Castability

Skills Audit

My voice work is 4/10 because I believe u need to try to project my words and lines more , so that I can make sure that a whole theatre can hear me.

My movement is 8/10 because i believe whilst performing, I project my body more , by trying to open up my self more and to make sure I am not closing my self away from the audience, even if my object is to hide , I will make sure I play the objective , however I will still make sure I am not closing my self away from the audience to much.

My Confident working with text is a 5/10 because I love working with interesting text, however I find it hard to remember the text and find objectives.

My Differnt types of acting is a 5/10 because I need to improve on doing Differnt types of acting/ theatre e.g. Shakespeare ect.

My characterisations is a 5/10 because if I really like the character I am playing,I can become the character quicker, however, I need to learn to adapt to all times of characters.

I believe my Rehersal skills are not so good because sometimes I am not 100% focused when reversing with other people, however I am 100% forcused rehearsing alone, therefore, I need to work on rehearsing with other people aswell as my self. so I give my self a 6/10.

Have you gained any skills elsewhere?

Being able to use my body more as I act, I have done this by going to do dance class and being able to express my body more.

In history, the good research I do in history, I am now able to put it into place with my blog work.

In English, I analyse books and poems and I have used that to start analysing my scripts to find objects and thought changes.

In year 6 being able to perform to Thousands of people and keeping them engaged in "music for life" when I was in year 6.

Castings and Castability

Casting is the way you look
Castability is if you could act but you may not look the part.

What is an audition?

What is an audition?

An audition is a first chance to proof and show case what you can do. It is like any exam to show what you can do as an actor or dance etc. You are proving to someone that you are suitable for that position or role. It could be an group audition or audition that you get lines to learn and you perform those lines to an audience

An audition can be filmed or seen visual. An visual audience is seeing it first hand, Seeing it with your own eyes, right in front of you.An filmed audition is sending in a clip of you doing a monologue or performance with out seeing the casting direction straight off hand.

A film audition, you may be given a character break down so you are able to research that character to make your audition. You could have a Play and stage audition and there would be a starring break down sent to agents and will be sent out to actors that those agents believe for those roles or can portray that character.

Having a good audition is bringing research with you of that play or research on that character. When it comes to radio your style of performance need to have that commercial type of performance to have a good audition.

The Technic from film is different from the Technic from theatre. Film is mostly about your face and image but in theatre it is about being about to project in all different spaces , you need to be able to use your body more in theatre then in film.

In film you didn't do the film in order you may to scene 10 before scene 1 so you need to be able to see where my character is and how my character Is feeling now, however in theatre in a way it goes in chronically order compared to film that start from where is more convenient at that time of moment.

Mark out the thought changes
Working out your physical objectives

Idea - in breath - out breath - action

Make sure you make your world comes to live before to talk

MY FIRST IMPRECATION OF THIS PLAY CALLED SPRING AWAKENING:

My Imprecation on this play is that this character is going through a stream of consciousness.
He is trying to convince himself that he has not done anything wrong at all. Even though he has killed her. There are least stage direction in this play compared to
Six characters in search of an author.

The dash and "..." Show that he was posing and ranting on, when he says "I wasn't bad! - " etc shows that he is trying to convince him self That he is not the bad guy

Question: Why is working out your physical objectives so important?

Working out your physical objectives is so important because it helps you to not just say the lines and act but to live in the movement and truly Believe that you are that character.

It also helps you to portray certain lines for example, if my line was "leave me alone" my objective would probably be to hide or to inform etc. Our physical objectives helps us not to repeat the same thing and to connect to the audience more on a physical level as well as just a verbal level as well.

Working out our physical objective help us and the audience to know that in this time in the play , my character is scared or happy etc. It helps us put across out emotions.
It's help the audience to understand the words we are saying. It help us put out actions and dialogue into zinc with each other.

Working out your physical objectives so important because it help us to keep physicality in line with our dialogue and makes us live in the giving circumstances of the scene.

Homework

(Find 3 monologue that you may do and say why they are good for you Due Monday)

1) A monologue that I may do is from a okay called Groping in words. I may do this monogue because there is a lot of sarcasm and I sometimes talk very sarcasticly a lot, therefore, I believe that I will be able to protray this character to the best standed.

The monologue is said by George and he is talking to Joyce in Act one, scene seven on page 123.The character George is trying to explain to Joyce that his friend is a completely stupid.

2) My second monologue is from the same play by George again in Act two , scene one on page 143. In this monologue George expresses his feeling about Mr Hetherington and how he could not cope with out having me Hetherington there with him, it suggests that George and Mr Hetherington had a special connect like no other.

This is really good for me because I believe that I can really express how he truly feels about Mr Hetherington while playing my objectives. Also George is also a teenage school , therefore connecting with me and making me be able to become the role of George.

3) My third monologue is Fallen by D.M.Larson. This is a selection from a published play in the book "Secrets of my soul". I believe I can make a very believable character
